First time at this clinic. Dr. Khosravi was very personable. She appeared to be really concerned about my mom. She was honest and to the point, but compassionate when giving the results of her findings. The staff was very nice as well.
Remicade
What is Remicade®?
Remicade® (infliximab) is given through an IV. It lowers swelling caused by an overactive immune system.
Remicade is approved to treat Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, and plaque psoriasis. These are stomach, joint, and skin conditions.
Remicade is not FDA-approved to treat any neurological condition. See the review note below — this page should not be published in the standard format without legal and compliance input.
- Starting treatments: Three treatments over about 6 weeks
- How often after that: Every 8 weeks, though your doctor may adjust this
- Total appointment time: About 3 hours
You will be tested for tuberculosis before you start, and tested again from time to time while you are on treatment.
How does Remicade® work?
Your body makes a protein called TNF. TNF causes swelling. That is useful when you are fighting an infection — swelling is part of how your body heals.
In some diseases, your body makes too much TNF. The swelling never shuts off, and over time it damages healthy tissue.
Remicade lowers how much TNF is active in your body.
Here is what it does:
- Remicade grabs TNF. It attaches to the protein and holds onto it.
- TNF stops working. It can no longer trigger the chain reaction that causes swelling.
- Swelling goes down. This eases symptoms in the affected part of your body.
- Your immune system gets quieter. This is also why Remicade raises your risk of infection.
How fast Remicade works depends a lot on which condition you have. Your specialist will tell you what to expect.
Common side effects:
- Reactions during treatment, like fever, chills, itching, chest tightness, or trouble breathing
- Colds and other infections in your nose, throat, or sinuses
- Headache
- Stomach pain
- Upset stomach
Serious side effects — get medical help right away:
- Serious infections (BOXED WARNING). These include tuberculosis and fungal infections. Some have been deadly. You will be tested for tuberculosis before you start.
- Cancer (BOXED WARNING). Lymphoma and other cancers have been reported. One rare type has happened mostly in teens and young adults.
- Nerve damage. Drugs like Remicade have been linked to new or worsening nerve conditions, including multiple sclerosis and optic neuritis.
- Liver damage. In rare cases this has been severe.
- Heart failure. Remicade can cause new heart failure or make existing heart failure worse.
- Hepatitis B coming back. If you carry hepatitis B, it can become active again.

Dr. Khosravi is an excellent addition to the staff at CNTC. She takes the time to explain things and welcomes questions. I feel as though she considers my long term heath as well as the issues I am currently experiencing. Her assistant Rochelle is stellar as well!
Breanna is amazing. She got me in almost immediately to see her once my test results came in from a referral, to explain them to me and start treatment. She spent a good hour listening to my concerns and addressing them, compassionately helping me answering the many questions I had about my complex health issues...I highly recommend Breanna to anyone who needs a movement disorder specialist. She and Dr. Peckham make an excellent team.
This was just my yearly check-up. PA Saini has a pleasant manner & asked all the right questions while providing me with an extension for my medications. A good visit!
Dr. Adam Horvit at Central Texas Neurology Consultants has been fantastic over the past year. He’s very thorough, takes a thoughtful and conservative approach, and always makes sure I understand everything. He’s great about answering all my questions at appointments, by phone, and is available through the patient portal. Highly recommend!
I am reviewing based on my experience with Dr. Elizabeth Peckham. She is a great movement disorder specialist. Very caring and understanding. She always listens to all my questions and answer them thoughtfully. Her assistants have always been helpful when I have called between appointments. I feel very confident in my husband’s care for his Parkinson’s disease and associated problems.
Dr. Peckham and her team are incredible. I’ve never needed any type of therapy before, but this team is amazing. I was given a form from my job that had to be turned in by ‘end-of-business day tomorrow or you won’t have benefits.’ Dr. Peckham worked on this paper between seeing her patients, so I could have it turned on time. I’ve never seen or heard of a doctor who would go out of her way to make sure I didn’t lose my benefits. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, thank you, thank you!
Dr. Elizabeth Peckham has been caring for my multiple illnesses for about 9 years. She and her MA, Cyndel, are compassionate, efficient and never stop until they found out what is wrong with me. Dr. Peckham and the doctors/facilities she has sent me to have found many answers/diagnoses to my painful and debilitating symptoms that are rapidly progressing. I don’t know how I would have made it through all that has happened to me without her.

Just had testing done for Carpal tunnel by Dr. Horvit. He was absolutely great! My aunt warned me that the test would be painful because of the needles but any pain I did feel was easily remedied by a most enjoyable visit with Dr. Horvit. I was talking to him while he did the test and he actually heard what I was saying because he listened and cared! He took interest in my and the test flew by... Thank you Dr. Horvit!

Whenever I need information about my treatments or care, my calls are always returned promptly. I’m always greeted with a smile. Everyone has always been helpful in the office with medical forms or questions. I live one town over, but I’m happy to drive here.

The infusion team is also terrific if you have treatments with them. They are constantly improving their in-house infusion center to ensure the comfort of their patients. The team there is professional and highly trained!
