Vyvgart Hytrulo
What is Vyvgart Hytrulo®?
Vyvgart Hytrulo® has the same medicine in it as Vyvgart. The difference is how you get it. Vyvgart goes into a vein through an IV and takes about an hour. Vyvgart Hytrulo is a shot under the skin that takes 30 to 90 seconds.
It treats two conditions in adults: generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG), and a nerve condition called CIDP. For CIDP, it was the first treatment with a new approach in more than 30 years.
Here is what treatment looks like:
- Your dose: One shot under the skin, taking 30 to 90 seconds
- How often, for myasthenia gravis: Once a week for 4 weeks, then a break before your next round
- How often, for CIDP: Once a week, ongoing
- Total appointment time: For the first visit, you can expect to stay around 1-1.5 hours. After that you should plan to star 45 min – 1 hour.
If you have CIDP, there is a version you can give yourself at home using a prefilled syringe. It takes about 20 to 30 seconds. Not everyone is a good fit for this, so ask your neurologist whether it makes sense for you. If you do switch to home treatment, we still handle your training, monitoring, and follow-up visits.
How does Vyvgart Hytrulo work?
Antibodies are proteins your immune system makes to fight off germs. Sometimes your body makes antibodies that attack your own tissue by mistake. That is what happens in both of the conditions this drug treats.
In myasthenia gravis, those antibodies block the signals between your nerves and your muscles, so your muscles feel weak.
In CIDP, they attack the protective coating around the nerves in your arms and legs. That causes weakness, numbness, and tingling.
Your body normally recycles antibodies using a receptor called FcRn. The problem is that FcRn recycles the harmful ones too.
Here is what it does:
- Vyvgart Hytrulo blocks FcRn. It stops the recycling process.
- Harmful antibodies get cleared out. Your body breaks them down instead of keeping them.
- For myasthenia gravis: Nerve signals reach your muscles again, so strength improves.
- For CIDP: The attack on your nerve coating slows down, which protects your strength and feeling.
- A second ingredient helps it absorb. Hyaluronidase briefly loosens the tissue under your skin so the full dose can soak in quickly.
In a CIDP study called ADHERE, people on this treatment went significantly longer before their symptoms got worse, compared to people who were not on it.
For myasthenia gravis, it works about the same as the IV version.
Your neurologist will check your progress with simple strength and function tests, and will also ask how you are doing with everyday things. Both matter.
Common side effects:
- Soreness, redness, or swelling where you got your shot — this is the most common one in people with CIDP
- Headache
- Bladder infections
- Infections in your nose, throat, or lungs
Serious side effects — get medical help right away:
- Infections. This medicine lowers your antibody levels, so infections may be harder to fight off. If you are sick, your treatment will be put off until you are better.
- Allergic reactions. These can include a rash, swelling of the face, lips, or throat, or trouble breathing.
- Reactions during or right after your shot. Reported symptoms include high blood pressure, chills, shivering, and pain in the chest, belly, or back. These usually happen within an hour.
- Live vaccines. You should not get live vaccines while on this medicine. Talk with your care team about your shots before each new round.

I followed Dr. Parisa Khosravi from the UT since I had severe MS and she has been such a blessing from day one. She is the best MS specialist I know in Austin
Dr. Khosravi as a MS specialist is hands down the best doctor I ever met. She is very kind and passionate and takes her time with diagnosis.

Dr. Khosravi is an excellent addition to the staff at CNTC. She takes the time to explain things and welcomes questions. I feel as though she considers my long term heath as well as the issues I am currently experiencing. Her assistant Rochelle is stellar as well!
Breanna is amazing. She got me in almost immediately to see her once my test results came in from a referral, to explain them to me and start treatment. She spent a good hour listening to my concerns and addressing them, compassionately helping me answering the many questions I had about my complex health issues...I highly recommend Breanna to anyone who needs a movement disorder specialist. She and Dr. Peckham make an excellent team.
This was just my yearly check-up. PA Saini has a pleasant manner & asked all the right questions while providing me with an extension for my medications. A good visit!
Dr. Adam Horvit at Central Texas Neurology Consultants has been fantastic over the past year. He’s very thorough, takes a thoughtful and conservative approach, and always makes sure I understand everything. He’s great about answering all my questions at appointments, by phone, and is available through the patient portal. Highly recommend!
I am reviewing based on my experience with Dr. Elizabeth Peckham. She is a great movement disorder specialist. Very caring and understanding. She always listens to all my questions and answer them thoughtfully. Her assistants have always been helpful when I have called between appointments. I feel very confident in my husband’s care for his Parkinson’s disease and associated problems.
Dr. Peckham and her team are incredible. I’ve never needed any type of therapy before, but this team is amazing. I was given a form from my job that had to be turned in by ‘end-of-business day tomorrow or you won’t have benefits.’ Dr. Peckham worked on this paper between seeing her patients, so I could have it turned on time. I’ve never seen or heard of a doctor who would go out of her way to make sure I didn’t lose my benefits. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, thank you, thank you!
Dr. Elizabeth Peckham has been caring for my multiple illnesses for about 9 years. She and her MA, Cyndel, are compassionate, efficient and never stop until they found out what is wrong with me. Dr. Peckham and the doctors/facilities she has sent me to have found many answers/diagnoses to my painful and debilitating symptoms that are rapidly progressing. I don’t know how I would have made it through all that has happened to me without her.

Just had testing done for Carpal tunnel by Dr. Horvit. He was absolutely great! My aunt warned me that the test would be painful because of the needles but any pain I did feel was easily remedied by a most enjoyable visit with Dr. Horvit. I was talking to him while he did the test and he actually heard what I was saying because he listened and cared! He took interest in my and the test flew by... Thank you Dr. Horvit!

I have been a Multiple Sclerosis patient here for a little over a decade, and they have always taken care of me! Everyone is always so friendly. Whenever I need information about my treatments or care, my calls are always returned promptly. I’m always greeted with a smile. Everyone has always been helpful in the office with medical forms or questions. I live one town over, but I’m happy to drive here.

The infusion team is also terrific if you have treatments with them. They are constantly improving their in-house infusion center to ensure the comfort of their patients. The team there is professional and highly trained!
