First time at this clinic. Dr. Khosravi was very personable. She appeared to be really concerned about my mom. She was honest and to the point, but compassionate when giving the results of her findings. The staff was very nice as well.
Soliris
What is Soliris®?
Soliris® (eculizumab) is given through an IV. In neurology it treats two conditions: generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG) in people 6 and older who are AChR antibody positive, and Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) in adults who are AQP4 antibody positive. It also treats two blood conditions.
There is something important to know before you start. Soliris raises your risk of a serious infection called meningococcal disease. Because of that, you need certain vaccines at least two weeks before your first treatment, and Soliris is only available through a special safety program. Read the safety section below carefully — this is not fine print.
Soliris is given at our IV Infusion Therapy in Round Rock | Central Texas Neurology:
- Starting treatments: Once a week for the first 4 weeks
- How often after that: Every 2 weeks
- Total appointment time: About 2 hours
You need meningococcal vaccines finished at least 2 weeks before your first treatment. If you need to start sooner than that, your doctor will give you an antibiotic to take in the meantime and get you vaccinated as soon as possible. You will also carry a safety card so any doctor who treats you knows you are on this medicine.
How does Soliris work?
Your immune system has a group of proteins called complement. They help you fight off germs. They work like a chain — one protein switches on the next, and so on down the line.
In myasthenia gravis and NMOSD, that chain gets switched on in the wrong place. Instead of attacking germs, it damages healthy tissue: the spot where your nerves meet your muscles in myasthenia gravis, or your optic nerves and spinal cord in NMOSD.
Soliris breaks the chain partway through.
Here is what it does:
- Soliris grabs a protein called C5. C5 sits in the middle of the complement chain.
- The chain stops there. The proteins after C5 never get switched on.
- The damaging step never happens. That last step is what punches holes in healthy cells.
- Your tissue is protected. Either the nerve-muscle connection or your optic nerves and spinal cord, depending on your condition.
If you have myasthenia gravis, many people notice their strength improving during those first few weeks of treatment.
If you have NMOSD, the goal is different. Soliris is there to stop attacks before they happen. Success looks like an attack you never had. That is harder to feel, but it matters — each NMOSD attack can cause damage that does not go away.
Common side effects:
- Headache
- Colds and other infections in your nose, throat, or sinuses
- Upset stomach
- Feeling tired
- Back pain
Serious side effects — get medical help right away:
- Serious meningococcal infections (BOXED WARNING). This is a severe infection that can become life threatening very quickly. It has happened to people who were vaccinated as well as people who were not. Get emergency care right away if you have a fever with a headache, a stiff neck, confusion, a rash, or sensitivity to light.
- Special safety program. Soliris is only available through a program called the ULTOMIRIS and SOLIRIS REMS. Your doctor has to be enrolled, and you have to be vaccinated and counseled before you start.
- Other serious infections. Your risk is also higher for certain pneumonia and flu-type bacteria. Your doctor will recommend vaccines for these.
- Reactions during treatment. These can include allergic reactions.

What Our Patients Have to Say
What Our Patients Have to Say
My first visit with Dr. Khasravi, she is very professional, knowledgeable, friendly. I feel very comfortable with my MS treatment in her capable hands. Many thanks
I followed Dr. Parisa Khosravi from the UT since I had severe MS and she has been such a blessing from day one. She is the best MS specialist I know in Austin
I am reviewing based on my experience with Dr. Elizabeth Peckham. She is a great movement disorder specialist. Very caring and understanding. She always listens to all my questions and answer them thoughtfully. Her assistants have always been helpful when I have called between appointments. I feel very confident in my husband’s care for his Parkinson’s disease and associated problems.
Dr. Horvit and his staff are amazing! Very professional, caring and knowledgeable.
Dr. Khosravi is an excellent addition to the staff at CNTC. She takes the time to explain things and welcomes questions. I feel as though she considers my long term heath as well as the issues I am currently experiencing. Her assistant Rochelle is stellar as well!
Dr. Khosravi was very caring. Listened to my needs. Explained future treatment plans.
I have been a Multiple Sclerosis patient here for a little over a decade, and they have always taken care of me! Everyone is always so friendly. Whenever I need information about my treatments or care, my calls are always returned promptly. I’m always greeted with a smile. Everyone has always been helpful in the office with medical forms or questions. I live one town over, but I’m happy to drive here.
I saw Dr. Parisa Khosravi at UT when she was covering for my normal doctor. Something about how she explains and speaks to patients made me want her as my doctor. When I found out she works in RR, I immediately called to get a referral. She's such a good doctor. She's honest, kind, thorough, friendly, and welcoming.
Dr. Khosravi as a MS specialist is hands down the best doctor I ever met. She is very kind and passionate and takes her time with diagnosis.
Dr. Elizabeth Peckham has been caring for my multiple illnesses for about 9 years. She and her MA, Cyndel, are compassionate, efficient and never stop until they found out what is wrong with me. Dr. Peckham and the doctors/facilities she has sent me to have found many answers/diagnoses to my painful and debilitating symptoms that are rapidly progressing. I don’t know how I would have made it through all that has happened to me without her.
Today was my first time meeting Dr. Khosravi. She was warm and friendly and knowledgeable and discussed future treatment plans. The office staff was all great from the woman who checked me in for the appointment and the medical assistant who showed me to the exam room.
Dr. Khosravi was very nice. She took her time with the appointment. It was my first visit. I think it will be a good doctor/patient relationship.
Just had testing done for Carpal tunnel by Dr. Horvit. He was absolutely great! My aunt warned me that the test would be painful because of the needles but any pain I did feel was easily remedied by a most enjoyable visit with Dr. Horvit. I was talking to him while he did the test and he actually heard what I was saying because he listened and cared! He took interest in my and the test flew by... Thank you Dr. Horvit!
My husband had an appointment with Dr Parisa Khosravi on Monday. She was wonderful, she listened to him, was compassionate yet was straightforward with the options for his ms treatment. We both appreciated her honesty & kindness! I would highly recommend her!
The nurses are amazing!! Been coming here for years and they have always treated me extremely professionally and with care. Love all of them!!!!
The infusion team is also terrific if you have treatments with them. They are constantly improving their in-house infusion center to ensure the comfort of their patients. The team there is professional and highly trained!
Dr. Horvit listens to me, and is interested in my overall health, not just his specialty.
I came from another neurology clinic 4 years ago and haven’t looked back. The nursing and clerical teams are professional and kind.
First time seeing Dr. Parisa Khosravi and omg what a gem I found. She just started working here and she is so patient and thorough with her diagnosis. I highly recommend this MS specialist as a doctor and kind human.
Dr. Adam Horvit at Central Texas Neurology Consultants has been fantastic over the past year. He’s very thorough, takes a thoughtful and conservative approach, and always makes sure I understand everything. He’s great about answering all my questions at appointments, by phone, and is available through the patient portal. Highly recommend!
Dr. Horvit was very professional and made sure I understood all the information presented. He went out of his way to ensure I was receiving the best care possible.
Dr. Peckham is well-informed and easy to talk to. She really considered options and ideas I suggested, including supplements for the treatment of my Parkinson’s disease.
Breanna is amazing. She got me in almost immediately to see her once my test results came in from a referral, to explain them to me and start treatment. She spent a good hour listening to my concerns and addressing them, compassionately helping me answering the many questions I had about my complex health issues...I highly recommend Breanna to anyone who needs a movement disorder specialist. She and Dr. Peckham make an excellent team.

Everyone is always so friendly...Shout out to Rochelle, and to Molly, Kathleen, and Madison in the infusion center for being always friendly, helpful, and overall great!
This was just my yearly check-up. PA Saini has a pleasant manner & asked all the right questions while providing me with an extension for my medications. A good visit!
Dr Peckham is so kind, knowledgeable and easy going. We are so grateful to have her as my husbands doctor as she answers all our questions, never rushed us and we always leave feeling confident in her recommendations.
Dr. Khosravi is simply lovely! Today was my first visit with her and she was a breath of fresh air! She was patient, kind, didn’t make me feel rushed and was a great listener!
Dr. Khosravi is very comprehensive and kind hoping she sticks in the practice.
Today was my first time meeting Dr. Khosravi. I'm needing to switch my MS medications (which can be very scary). Dr. Khosravi was extremely helpful in aiding me to make a decision on which med would work best for me/for my lifestyle. She was very patient and went over all options with me. She was very professional while still be attentive to my needs. Highly recommend.
I’ve been to De. Peckham’s for the last decade. Her and the staff I’ve had the pleasure of working with have all been outstanding. And their new online system makes it even easier to message between appointments as needed.
Dr. Peckham and her team are incredible. I’ve never needed any type of therapy before, but this team is amazing. I was given a form from my job that had to be turned in by ‘end-of-business day tomorrow or you won’t have benefits.’ Dr. Peckham worked on this paper between seeing her patients, so I could have it turned on time. I’ve never seen or heard of a doctor who would go out of her way to make sure I didn’t lose my benefits. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, thank you, thank you!
I’ve been seeing Dr. Peckham for over 5 years now. She is very attentive and addresses every issue.

The infusion team is also terrific if you have treatments with them. They are constantly improving their in-house infusion center to ensure the comfort of their patients. The team there is professional and highly trained!
